15 July 1971: Danijela born
Croatian singer Danijela Martinovic was born on 15 July 1971. She began singing from an early age. Her big break came in 1991 when she joined the pop band Magazin. Magazin had long been a big name on the Croatian music scene. They represented Croatia at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest, along with the opera singer Lidija Horvat-Dunjko, they performed the song "Nostalgija" finishing in sixth place in a field of 23 competitors.
After leaving Magazin in the late 1990's, Danijela pursued a solo career. She represented Croatia as a solo artist in the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Neka mi ne svane'. This was even more successful: she finished in fifth place in a field of 25 competitors. More recently, she had a summer hit in Croatia with the song 'Brodolom' in 2012. The song reached more than 3 million views on YouTube in less than one month.
